Hello! I’m Naomi.
I’m a fiber artist currently pursuing my MFA in Textile Design at the Swedish School of Textiles.
In my creative work I take a materials-driven approach. I use mostly secondhand fabrics, and allow the natural character of the materials to drive my design process. As a multidisciplinary textile artist, I often combine techniques to achieve unique visual effects.
Much of my work falls under a “durational art” umbrella. I enjoy the process of repetition, of entering the meaninglessness of doing something for the 100th time, and the deep meaningfulness of doing it for the 1000th. There is a meditative nature to textile art that I seek to embrace – the value lies not only in the product, but also the process itself.
